Dinning light
This was a time when a job comes along that really lights up your day—quite literally! Client's request had led me to the pleasure (and shoulder workout) of installing this stunning 17kg dining light fixture over a dining table. And no, it didn’t come with a warning label for biceps.
First things first: no, you can’t just hang a 17kg light from plasterboard and hope for the best (unless you enjoy dinner under a pile of rubble)As for preparation, I had to cut into the ceiling and install some solid timber to support it properly. Yes, it felt a bit like open-heart surgery for the ceiling. Precision, patience, and a bit of sweat.
Once the timber was in and everything was secured, it was time to repair and patch the ceiling.
After a careful install and triple-checking that bracket is secured properly, the light was finally up—and wow, it was worth it! It not only elevates the entire space, but the warm glow makes it feel like every meal is a special occasion.
Pro tip: always check the weight before you fall in love with a light.
